You’ve heard of Caribou Ranch — Nederland’s iconic recording studio whose walls witnessed the likes of Michael Jackson, John Lennon and Joe Walsh tinker with legendary albums. And of course there’s The Caribou Room, Ned’s party barn playing host to everyone from local DJs to national touring artists.
We felt like there weren’t enough Colorado music spaces named after the non-native Cervidae. Enter stage right: The Caribou Den.
To celebrate our second issue of Caribou Current, we unfurled old rugs and plugged in thrifted lamps to set a cozy stage in our Boulder office for Ben Sooy, lead singer of Front Range emo outfit A Place for Owls to play for a small living room crowd.
The songs are unreleased, and in some cases still a work in progress, Ben explained to the crowd. The video is a snippet of his 45-minute set of what he calls “the saddest songs you’ve ever heard.”
